Michel Pereira Helping Save Lives After Floods in Brazil
UFC Middleweight Michel Pereira is lending a hand in taking action after storms have caused mass flooding in Brazil.
Heavy rainfall over the past week has left Rio Grande do Sul under water with roofs of homes and car tops still being visible. The associated press reporting 160 lives lost, 100 people missing, and 160,000 people displaced from their homes.
The UFC was just in Brazil for UFC 301 on the 4th of May. On the main card Michel Pereira submitted Igor Potieria by Standing guillotine choke for his 8th win in a row. It’s already been reported that Pereira will look to keep the momentum rolling with a quick turnaround to face the number 11 ranked Roman Dolidze June 8th at UFC Louisville.
But with his home nation going through a tragedy Pereira isn’t in the gym preparing for his next fight. Pereira has been in a boat and climbing roofs helping to save animals.
In a single day, the group Pereira is working managed to save 26 dogs and 3 guinea pigs. Another day it appears the team saved between 15-25 more animals. Pereira has also announced he’s going to be auctioning off his UFC custom 301 jacket and fight worn gloves.
