Deck for UFC 303 Reshuffled

Injury will stop Conor McGregor from facing Michael Chandler at UFC 303.

The new main course for the UFC extravaganza that is International Fight Week is a rematch for the UFC Light-heavyweight championship. Alex Pereira will put the UFC 205 lbs. crown on the line against Jiri Prochazka who he beat to win the then vacant title at UFC 295.

At UFC 300 Pereira, also a former Middleweight champion, knocked out the last man to hold the UFC Light-Heavyweight title prior to himself, Jamhal Hill. That same night Jiri Prochazka stopped Aleksandar Rakic by second round TKO.

The card has gained a new co-main event that will see a top fifth teen featherweight matchup between number three ranked Brain Ortega against number fourteen Diego Lopez. Ortega is one of the most dangerous submission artists in UFC history who’s challenged for the title on two occasions. Ortega got his hand raised for the first time in four-years in February submitting Yair Rodriguez. Lopes has opened eyes since his UFC debut on short notice when he pushed unbeaten Movsar Evelov to his limit. The Mexican fighter is coming off demolishing Sodiq Youssef to enter the top 15.

The new co-main event was needed after Jamhal Hill was forced to withdraw from facing Carlos Ulberg. The rising New Zealand knockout artist will remain on the card facing former title challenger Anthony Smith.

At this point it’s expected that Conor McGregor vs Michael Chandler has just been postponed not cancelled. It’s already speculated that a rebooking for McGrgeor vs. Chandler, could be scheduled for as a soon as August or September.
