LFA 185 Results, Lewis Grinds Title away from Gennrich
Hammond Indiana- The LFA has a new Lightweight champion.
Former collegiate wrestler Richie Lewis took down Kegan Gennrich in every round on route to winning what two judges saw as a one-sided bout. The third consecutive decision win of Lewis’s career adds an LFA title to his mantel which also had the Titan FC strap placed on it in July. With a 6-0 mark it’s reasonable to think the former standout at Rutgers University has positioned himself for a short notice call to the UFC or an opportunity on this summer’s Contender Series.
The originally scheduled Women’s Strawweight title fight between champion Natasha Kuziutina & challenger Bruna Ellen was cancelled due to the champion coming down with an illness.
In the new co-main event Jose Ferreira made a successful LFA debut rebounding from his first professional loss. Ferreira controlled Cassio Barao on the ground for most of the first round. A Ferreira outside leg kick sent Barao back to the mat early in the second. Attempting to stand up Ferreira took Barao’s back finishing the fight with barrage of elbows.
The biggest betting favorite on the card Joey Hart served up the knockout of the night. Hart rebounded from being sat down by a jab to crumble down Tyler Scott with a knee from the Thai clinch that cut right through Scott’s guard. Hart records his 4th first round finish also keeping his 100% finishing rate in tack.
