Nowhere to Run Recap

Albuquerque NM, The Over Time Bar & Grill hosted the Nowhere to Run Amateur Kickboxing & Muay Thai series.The all amateur striking platform returned for the first time since April with their third show from a top the volleyball court.

Blood was flowing early as Luis Murga drew blood from Adam Torres nose in the first round. A drip leading to a consistent flow by time they reached the judges’ score cards. Clear damage and a couple slick head kicks gave Santa Fe Muay Thai’s Luis Murga a split decision win over Chavez Dojo’s Adam Torres.

In the second fight a spirited contests saw Jerod Fischer or Invictus Muay Thai def Megaton BJJ’s Kenny Irving by unanimous decision.

Chavez Dojo’s Ricardo Pereyra battle through a rough first round where he was hit with two left high kicks to let his aggression come out pushing forward for the final two round to take a split decision win over HB Elite Strikers Anthony Fazro.

An early front runner for fight of the night Anthony Valverde of Jacksonwink MMA defeated Jackson’s Acoma’s Seve Preciado by unanimous decision. Preciado started the fight off well working over Valverde’s body. Val Verde turns the tides in the second round with the right hook to the body scoring a knock down. By the third round Valverde’s jab nearly closing up Preciado’s left eye.

The team from Chavez Dojo ended the day 2-1 after Tobias Salcido used continual forward pressure and boxing combinations to defeat The Train Stations Jeremy Bruso.

The first finish of the night came from Jayden Uttaro of United Fit who got a TKO win over Lazaro Tellez of ANO Muay Thai. Uttaro landing several hard outside leg kicks. when the bell rang to begin the third Tellez was unable to continue from exhaustion.

In a barn burner Nobody’s Villian’s AJ Pierrotti beat Invictus Muay Thai’s Brayan Roybal by split decision. Pierrotti finding success with body shots, leg kicks, and punches when Roybal was on the ropes. Roybal no slouch, using his long frame to constantly attack with knees and even cut Pierrotti on his right cheek. Both fighters showed major potential.

Fit NHB’s Alejandro Garcia put on a furious pace taking a split decision win over Force of 1’s Miguel Hernandez on the of his smooth body shots and tricky head kicks.

The best body work on the night came from Malikye Orozco from Santa Fe BJJ who earned a unanimous decision win over Daryl Herrera from Bang Muay Thai. Herrera built quite the comeback in the third but it wasn’t enough to negate a slow start.

The co-main event has a story all to itself. Elijah Lucero from nobody’s villains had a big first round with his right hands and spinning backfist. Jackson’s Acoma’s Andrew Florez came back in the second round with beautiful punches rocking back Lucero‘s head on several occasions. The third round was delayed after a malfunction with the top rope. The Flores boxing would earn him the nod.

In the main event Pat Croughn from Jacksonwink MMA showed natural power and timing sitting Thurman Joe of Megaton BJJ in the opening seconds with a straight right hand. The fight would end by knockout in the second round Croughn stopping Joe by superman punch a super start to his amateur career that gets the knockout of the night.
