UFC 302 Results

The Ultimate Fighting Championship is at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey for UFC 302 where Islam Makhachev defends the UFC Lightweight title against Dustin “The Diamond” Poirier. Makhachev the pound for pound number one ranked fighter in the UFC heads into his third championship contest on a 13-fight win streak. Since winning the title at UFC 280 Makhachev has twice successfully defended taking down Alexander Volkanovski. A former interim champion Poirirer looks to take clam of the only prize to have alluded him.

In the co-main event, it’s a Middleweight bout between top contenders as former champion Sean Strickland faces number 7 ranked Paulo Costa.

We’re watching a great crave out his place in history. Islam Makhachev dominated for five-rounds and made an emphatic statement never reletting. Hunting for and getting the finish just after the halfway point of the 5th round. The Dagestani fighter records his third title defense and 12th career submission.

Former Middleweight champion Sean Strickland has positioned himself for another shot at the UFC title. The official decision will go down as split, but that was really only one man’s opinion. For five rounds Strickland walked down Costa with a multitude of fakes constantly forcing the Brazilian to question what weapon was coming from what angle at what time. Strickland’s fourth win in his last five fights is the 14th decision win for the number 1 contender.

Kevin Holland returned to the Middleweight division and the win column collecting the 9th submission win of his career. A left hand from Oleksiejczuk sat Holland down. The Polish fighter got himself in trouble following to the mat Holland taking the right arm for the victory.
