UFC Louisville Results, Nassourdine Imavov Scores Controversial TKO win
Louisville Kentucky, the biggest win of Nassourdine Imavov’s career will be marred in controversy thanks to referee Jason Herzog.
The first two rounds of the main event of UFC Fight Night from the KFC Yum! Center saw Jared Cannonier utilize calf kicks from the outside and wrestling Imavov to the fence when in close. The heavily breathing Imavov found the timing to Cannonier’s calf kick in the third countering with hard right hands. A right hand in the fourth has Cannonier running for safety while Imavov perused the finish. Many of Imaov’s punches deflecting off Cannonier’s guard while still staggering to the surprise of Cannonier referee Jason Herzog jumped in for the stoppage. Herzog was an active participant in the bout having to continually warm but not penalize Imavov for illegally sticking his finger directly out instead of up.
A wildly early stoppage that will unfortunately overshadow a win that takes Imavov into the top five of the Middleweight division and is his 5th win in his last 7 fights.
The four-year losing streak of Dominick Reyes has ended. Justin Jacoby made the decision that the fight would be an old fashion duel. Jacoby was right in Reyes’s face firing away. The Jacoby straight punches backing up Reyes. The Jacoby pressure his until undoing walking into a massive left hand. Reyes follows with two more lefts and a knee that essentially puts Jacoby out. More follow up punches are icing on the cake as Jacoby crumbles to his knees.
Highly touted 19-year-old Mexican prospect Raul Rosas Jr. submitted TUF winner Ricky Turcios. Rosas Jr. was able to match Turcios trademark chaotic pace and settle down the fight getting it to the ground. Turcios managed to reverse the position, took the back threatening a choke in the first. Rosas seized control in the second taking the back sliding in a body lock collecting his second UFC win by rear naked choke.
