Muhammad Wrestles title from Edwards while Aspinall Crushes Blaydes to remain Interim

We’ll remember the name because he’ll always have UFC champion listed on his resume after UFC 304.

A pressure filled effort where Belal Muhammad boxed his way into setting up and completing nine takedowns. Edwards had his best round int the third getting Muhammad’s down and taking his back. Muhmmad stole the idea taking Edwards back in fourth & fifth rounds. Feeling the title slipping away “Rocky” showed no quite turning inside Muhammad’s guard and dropping an elbow busting Muhammad’s nose to steal the round on two cards but wasn’t enough to overcome the control time. A sixth win in a row since the no contest with Edwards now writes Muhammad’s name into the history books.

The UFC Interim Heavyweight title still resides in England. A thunderous jab sat Blaydes down. Following to the ground Asphinall put Blaydes away with strikes from the back. The only blemish on Aspinall’s record over his last twelve fights now advanced. The path is clear, and Dana White did say this week the winner of this fight will get the Jones-Miocic winner to unify the Heavyweight title.  The it factor glowing from a 31-year-old who looks primed to be a superstar.

Paddy Pimblett will be the number 15 Lightweight when the rankings are updated next week after putting King Green to sleep. A well-timed low kick from Pimbeltt took out Green’s lead leg forcing him into a double leg/ Paddy quickly wrapped up the neck. Green escaped from the guillotine but found himself right in the danger of a triangle choke he couldn’t get away from. It’s an eight-fight win streak for Pimbeltt and six in a row inside the octagon.

Gregory Rodrigues is knocking on the door of the Middleweight rankings after a third consecutive victory. Unlike the last two victim Christian Leroy Ducan made it all the way to the scorecards. But similarly, it was Rodrigues power making the difference in backing up “CLD” and making him hesitate. It was also refreshing to see the BJJ black belt get back to using grappling. And after the takedowns used elbows that caused cuts and hematoma.

Number six ranked Featherweight Arnold Allen halted his two-fight skid out dueling number ten ranked Giga Chikadze for 15-minutes. The Allen pressure and Boxing never allowed Chikadze to get more going than early success with body shot. The Allen straight punches causing damage to the nose and drawing blood from the mouth of the Georgian.

Nathan Wood is back in the win column getting the unanimous decision over veteran Daniel Pineda. The Wood calf kicks slowed down the Texan. A big left hand nearly closed Pineda’s left eye but he hung in the final bell/b A brutal body attack along with a couple well timed transitions to the back saw Bruna Brasil get the decision win to even her UFC record at 2-2. The short notice move up ten pounds was the right decision for Jake Hadley as the speed advantage saw him out point Caolan Loughran.

The threat of the Muhmmad Mokaev takedown limited the Manel Kape offense. While Mokaev didn’t land big he was the busier party in the first two rounds. An apparent right foot injury limited Kape’s movement over the second half of the fight. The threat went into action in the third round as Mokaev would get two takedowns cruising to a decision win. The number six ranked Mokaev is now 7-0 in the UFC as he builds a case for a title shot.

“The Welsh Ganster” is 2-0 in the UFC after taking a unanimous decision win over Preston Parsons. The Oban Elliott takedown defense stood tough while his boxing put in the offense to make it seven wins in a row.

The second run success for Modestas Bukauskas continues as he’s now won three of four. Bukauskas had Marcin Prachnio hurt in the first and second rounds. A Prachnio lead leg high kick wobbled the Lithuanian born fighter and gave the polish fighter the confidence to go for broke at the beginning of the third. Bukauskas countered with a takedown a found a arm-triangle choke for his first UFC win by submission.

Sam Patterson made it consecutive submission wins forcing Kiefer Crosbie to tap from an arm-triangle. Patterson took Crosbie to the ground after rattling him with a lead uppercut.

English Heavyweight Mick Parkin made it 4-0 in the UFC. This win came with style points as Parking hurt Brzeski twice on the feet, a left hook scoring the knockdown and a couple follow up strikes secured his first finish inside the octagon.

Ireland’s Shayna Bannon got her first UFC win, a split decision over short notice replacement Alice Ardelean by split decision. A game effort from Ardelean who ran out of gas as the fight went on leaving opening for the Bannon blites to be effective.
