Jones – Miocic at MSG According to Dana

The long speculated return of Jon Jones for November has been confirmed.

In an interview with Complex Dana White confirmed Jon Jones & Stipe Miocic has been rescheduled for the main event of UFC 309.

UFC 309 is set for November 16th at Madison Square Garden in New York City.

The fight was originally scheduled to happen at UFC 295 last November, but was canceled when Jones suffered a torn pectoral. That’s when Tommy Aspinall & Sergei Pavlovich for an interim heavyweight title was made. Aspinall knocked out Pavlovich in the first round creating a discussion about out how the division should proceed.

The UFC has maintained that Jon Jones, the greatest fighter in UFC history and Stipe Miocic, the greatest Heavyweight in UFC history is a historical match they are committed to making.

At UFC 285 Jones made his heavyweight debut easily submitting Ciryl Gane to claim of the Heavyweight title vacated by Francis N’Gannou.  Miocic has the most Heavyweight title fight wins in UFC history at 6 but hasn’t fought since March 2021. The Ohio firefighter holds wins over Alistair Overeem, Francis N’Gannou, & two over Daniel Cormier. At 37 for Jones and 42-years-old for Miocic this could be the last time we see either Legend fighting inside the octagon.

The co-main event will be a rematch at Lightweight between top contenders. Former UFC champion Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira squares off with “Iron” Michael Chandler. Plus, the top prospect in the UFC unbeaten Bo Nickal faces Scottish submission artist Paul Craig .
