Tenaglia Earns Lightweight title in Fight of the Year Candidate

Incredible war produces unheard of reward.

Franco Tenaglia is the new BKFC Lightweight champion after out slugging Tony Soto in the BKFC Spain Main event. Tenaglia’s power advantage was evident early, scoring a knockdown in the first round. Soto responded by putting Tenaglia on his knees in the second from body shots. A Tenaglia over hand sat Soto down in the third to steal a round that Soto was controlling. The fourth and fifth were back and forth with Soto mixing levels and landing with quick combinations while Tenaglia came in with hooks and over hands. The judges seeing the fight as (47-45, 46-46, 47-45) a majority decision giving Argentina & Spain their first BKFC Champion. After the fight Conor McGregor announced, “What we’re going to do for these two gentlemen as well as a bonus is double their purse,”.

The BKFC Welterweight title will remain in the possession of Austin Trout who swept Rico Franco across the scorecards. Trout knocked down Franco twice in the first and fourth rounds. Franco kept coming but couldn’t find the recipe to counter Trout’s snappy jab and slick use of a single Thai plum.

David Mundell has hung a third successful title defense on the board stopping Danny Christie in the second round. In just under three minutes Mundell bulldozed his way through Christie, scoring three knockdowns, one in the first, and two in the second. A short left hand laser the finish blow.

The Featherweight division gained a promising new entrant in Dan Chapman. The longtime amateur boxer showed off dazzling hand speed ripping his way through a very Mike Jurik. Felipe Da Silva Maia also opened eye blasting right hands to stop former lightweight contender James Lilly in a Welterweight bout.

Experienced pugilist Hannah Rankin out dueled Deborah Melhorn for a split decision win. MMA journalist Oscar Willis knockdown combat sports broadcaster Ben Davies four times in under a minute for a first round TKO win. Complete results here.
