Marine Completes his Championship Mission at BKFC Hollywood
The fifth first round knockout at BKFC Hollywood sees the Light Heavyweight title change hands.
In July 2023 Mike Richman was contemplating retirement after two unsuccessful attempts to become world champion. Eight months later Richman was back in the win column with a 5th round knockout of Erick Lozano proving he still had something left. Defending champion Jared Warren was success early in the fight but Richman stayed composed finding a right hook flooring the champion for the first knockdown. A second right hook put an end to the fight making the Marine Light Heavyweight champion in only forty-four seconds.
A harshly criticized decision win over Jade Masson-Wong had many questioning BKFC Women’s Flyweight champion Christine Ferea’s desire. “The Misfit” answered and sent a statement to her doubters. Ferea cut Vicens around her right eye in the first round. While Vicens never back down throwing with fight ending intentions and pressing her way into the clinch, the damage on her face continued to grow. Ferea turning Vicens face to burger as wear a crimson mask. Vicens was sat down by a right hand in the fourth. The ringside doctor stopped the fight after inspecting Vicens closed left eye. The level of violence in this fight more than making up for the previous disappointment.
Many of the promotions, brightest up and coming talents continued building their resumes towards superstar status. Luis Perdomo still hasn’t seen a second round stopping Levi Costa with one right uppercut to the body. Some have suggested at 6-0 it’s time for Perdomo to fight for the Heavyweight title. BKFC president David Feldman has suggested that the Cuban may be more inclined to stay active for a bit longer before going calling for a title shot.
In his first fight back from shoulder surgery Bryan Duran worked over Kasim Ruffin’s body before finding a right uppercut, left hook, right cross combination for the finish. Even with the fight up at Lightweight Duran is focused on a rematch with Featherweight champion Kai Stewart.
In strange fashion Gee Perez collected the fast knockout win on the card. Perez beat Carey Caprio in twenty-four seconds. Caprio forced the fight into the clinch and in the break appeared to injure his right shoulder. On the restart Perez ripped off a 10-punch combination that was capped off by a left hook.
Justin Ibbarola is 6-0 after a straight right hand crushed Derek Perez for a second-round knockout. Ibbarola is said to be more interested in big money fights rather than a title shot. Edgar Plazaola knocked down Alex Castro four times before a left hook stopped Castro in the fourth round improving Plazaola to 4-0.
Bellator vet Sabah Homasi made a successful debut stopping Eduardo Peralta in the second round with a right cross. Tyler Randall defended his spot in the Flyweight rankings knocking out Austin Lewis in the first round with a left uppercut right hook combination.
Former interim Middleweight champion Frenesco Ricchi cursed to a decision win over Blake LaCaze on the strength of two knockdowns in the second round. And the card kicked off with a comeback as Brock Walker battled back from a rough first three rounds to stop Nicholas Blume with a pair of left hooks one to the body and one to the head.
