Flyweight Title Grudge Match headlines CFC 4
Three months after winning the inaugural CFC Flyweight the belt will already be defended.
In the main event of CFC 4 July 5th in El Paso Jacobo Martos puts the CFC Flyweight title on the line against Iyean “Problem Child” Varela
At CFC 3 the promotion crowned their first Flyweight Champion. Las Cruces’s Martos got the job done with a first round knockout of Javier Cepeda. Martos’s third straight win and second in a row under the CFC banner, both have been first round knockouts.
Title challenger Iyean Varela is a Ray Borg protege from Albuquerque, New Mexico. The “Problem Child” is a button pusher with a tendency to get under his opponent’s skin. A elementary school teacher, Varela is an ultra athletic grappler who has all of his wins by submission.
It was known that if Martos beat Cepeda at CFC, Varela a teammate of Cepeda’s would be first in line for the title. But emotions boiled over when Varela jumped into making the in cage face off happen before Martos could fully soak up his championship celebration making this matchup that much more personal.
The amateur side of the card will see two title fights. At Flyweight Calvin Dunning from Jay Page MMA faces Fit NHB’s Sergio Gutierrez & reigning welterweight champion Victor Santillan from the Elite Kickboxing Academy defends against Joseph Perez from Red Hawk Academy.
