
Heavyweight Tournament Featured at Karate Combat Doubleheader
The Last Man Standing gets to fight Sam Alvey.
Sam Alvey needs a challenger and Karate Combat has come up with a plan for someone to truly earn a shot at the two-division champion.
KC55 will feature a one-night 8-man tournament. The tournament will see the quarterfinal and semifinal matches contested in two three-minute rounds bouts. A third round will be added to the finals. There will be a sudden-death round to determine the winner in the case of a draw.
Participating in the tournament will be Olympic taekwondo, bronze medalist Robelis Despaigne, former Glory Kickboxing champion Saulo Cavalari, UFC, Bellator, & PFL vet Tim Johnson, former BKFC Heavyweight champion Chase Sherman, former BKFC Heavyweight champion Alan Belcher, UFC & BKFC vet Braxton Smith, Bellator vet Daniel James, & TUF 30 finalist Zac Pauga.
In the quarterfinals Robelis Despaigne will face Saulo Cavalari with the winner facing the winner of Tim Johnson versus fellow UFC vet Chase Sherman in the semifinals.
On the other side of the bracket the winner of Alan Belcher versus Zac Pauga meets the winner of the final pairing pitting Chicago’s Daniel James against Austin’s Braxton Smith.
The tournament is part of KC55 on July 18th which is day one of two days of events in Miami. The KC55 main event has Arturo Vergara vs. Adam Noi for the Karate Combat bantamweight title.
July 19th KC56 is a champion doubleheader where Shahzazib Ring & Luiz Rocha will unify the Lightweight title. In the co-main event Aline Pereira, Alex Pereira’s sister,battle Fani Peloumpi for the Karate Combat Women’s Flyweight title.
