Do Bronx Headlines UFC Fight Night in Rio
Former UFC Lightweight Champion Charles Oliveira will return to action in front of a home crowd.
On October 11th, the UFC heads to Farmasi Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, for an exciting Fight Night card. The main event will feature a top-10 lightweight clash as No. 4-ranked Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira faces No. 10-ranked Rafael Fiziev.
Oliveira’s storied career has been marked by both highs and lows. After a rocky 4–4 start at lightweight and a brief stint at featherweight, he reinvented himself, going on an impressive 11-fight win streak. Nine of those wins earned performance bonuses, and the run culminated in capturing the UFC Lightweight Championship. Known for his elite submission game, Oliveira holds the record for most submission wins in UFC history with 23. This will mark his first fight in Brazil since submitting Kevin Lee in 2020.
Rafael Fiziev, representing Kazakhstan, entered the UFC with a reputation as a dangerous striker. From late 2019 through 2022, he put together a six-fight win streak, capped by a victory over former lightweight champion Rafael dos Anjos. His momentum was briefly halted by a narrow majority decision loss to Justin Gaethje, followed by a knee injury that kept him sidelined for all of 2024. Fiziev made a gutsy return on short notice to rematch Gaethje in a bout that once again earned Fight of the Night honors. Most recently, he secured a win over Ignacio Bahamondes in Azerbaijan, showing his pride in performing on home turf.
Now, Fiziev looks to play spoiler in Rio as he meets the Brazilian legend in what promises to be a high-stakes, action-packed main event.
