FightWorld 40 Weigh-in Coverage, New Main Event in Place

Fight fans, get ready—Saturday night is fight night at the Revel Entertainment Center as FightWorld 40 rolls in with an action-packed 12-fight card.

Fight week has been buzzing with energy, although not without its setbacks. Unfortunately, both Hondo Gutierrez and Ray Vaiza were forced off the card due to their opponents withdrawing from injuries. Despite an extensive search, no replacements were found in time.

With the shake-up, a new main event steps into the spotlight. Albuquerque’s own Ozzy “Beast Boy” Chavez will headline the show, taking on Enrique “Hulk Hands” Marte of Chula Vista, California in a flyweight clash between two aggressive finishers eager to make a statement.

The top of the amateur card is equally electric, featuring two FightWorld amateur title fights—long considered the most prestigious amateur belts in New Mexico. With a lineage dating back over two decades, FightWorld titles have helped launch the careers of several world champions and UFC stars.

At lightweight, it’s a showdown of unbeaten prospects: Jon Merino (3-0) from Sandoval Fight Systems squares off against Ezekial Romero (2-0) from Borg’s MMA. And in the bantamweight title fight, Izaac Sandoval (3-0) from FIT NHB collides with Santiago Gonzales (5-2), also of Sandoval Fight Systems, in what’s sure to be a fan-favorite war.

Doors open at 6 p.m. MT, and the first fight kicks off at 7 p.m. MT. Below are the full results from the official weigh-ins:
