In the main event, UFC Welterweight Champion Jack Della Maddalena makes his first title defense against pound-for-pound number two and former Lightweight king Islam Makhachev. Maddalena captured the belt in May by shutting down Belal Muhammad’s wrestling before taking over with his crisp boxing. Makhachev, meanwhile, dominated the 155-pound division with a 15-fight winning streak highlighted by four consecutive title defenses, and now seeks greatness in a second weight class.
The co-main event features the most decorated Women’s Flyweight Champion in UFC history, Valentina Shevchenko, defending her throne against former Strawweight Champion Zhang Weili. Shevchenko has amassed eight successful defenses across two title reigns, while Zhang put together four defenses during her second run at 115 pounds before moving up. Notably, both women are among the rare fighters who have lost and then regained a UFC title.
