Banger Headlines UFC Fight Night Perth
The UFC is heading back Down Under.
For the second time in the first half of 2026, the promotion will touch down in Perth, Australia — and this time, the welterweights will take center stage.
Former champion Jack Della Maddalena returns home to headline against Brazilian knockout artist Carlos Prates in what promises to be a striking showcase.
Precision vs. Power
Della Maddalena (18-3) has established himself as one of the cleanest boxers in the UFC. The Perth native blends sharp fundamentals with killer instinct, working the body as well as anyone in the division before unleashing crisp combinations upstairs. Whether standing or opportunistically on the mat, he is always hunting the finish.
For the first time in his 18-fight career — including eight appearances inside the Octagon — the former champion enters a bout looking to rebound from a setback that cost him the welterweight title. Fighting in front of his hometown crowd adds both pressure and opportunity.
Across from him stands chaos.
Prates (27-3) has built a reputation as one of the most entertaining fighters at 170 pounds. His carefree, larger-than-life personality has made him a fan favorite, but it’s his “stand and bang” style that keeps audiences on edge. Six of his UFC wins have come by knockout, each one adding to a growing highlight reel.
His lone stumble came against top contender Ian Machado Garry, where grappling proved to be the difference. On the feet, however, Prates remains a nightmare matchup.
A Classic Style Clash
Della Maddalena thrives on precision. He digs viciously to the body, strings together fluid combinations, and methodically breaks opponents down.
Prates, by contrast, stalks with calculated pressure, looking to line up his laser-accurate left hand. Dangerous in the clinch, he mixes in slicing elbows and devastating Muay Thai techniques that can turn a fight instantly.
It’s elite boxing versus violent Muay Thai — a matchup built for fireworks.
With Perth set to host another marquee night, the UFC may have found the perfect main event to light up Australia once again.
