MVP MMA 1 Adds Depth to Historic Rousey vs. Carano Card
Most Valuable Promotions has officially finalized the lineup for its debut MMA event, adding eight compelling matchups to round out what is shaping up to be a star-studded inaugural card.
Headlined by the long-awaited return of Ronda Rousey against fellow women’s MMA pioneer Gina Carano, MVP MMA 1 takes place May 16 at the Intuit Dome in Los Angeles, California.
Among the newly announced bouts, the heavyweight division gets a major boost as former UFC champion Junior dos Santos meets Olympic Taekwondo bronze medalist and Karate Combat champion Robelis Despaigne in a clash of elite strikers.
Former two-division KSW champion Salahdine Parnasse will make his long-anticipated U.S. debut against Tuff-N-Uff lightweight champion Kenneth Cross, adding an intriguing international element to the card.
At flyweight, two of the sport’s most sought-after free agents collide as undefeated former Brave CF champion Muhammad Mokaev faces former ONE Championship titleholder Adriano Moraes in a high-level matchup with major implications.
The welterweight division will also be showcased, as former Bellator champion Jason Jackson takes on explosive knockout artist Lorenz Larkin in what promises to be a striking-heavy contest.
In a unique crossover bout, Karate Combat champion Aline Pereira—the sister of UFC champion Alex Pereira—faces BKFC veteran Jade Masson-Wong in a 130-pound matchup.
Rising prospect David Mgoyan steps into the biggest test of his career against experienced UFC veteran Albert Morales, while finisher Namo Fazil meets pressure fighter Jake Babian in another compelling preliminary bout.
Additionally, Nate Diaz teammate Chris Avila is scheduled to compete, with his opponent still to be announced.
