Jan Blachowicz returns to Octagon in March

The climb back forwards the top of the mountain for former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Jan Blachowicz will apparently begin in March.

The currently ranked number one contender in the division Blachowicz is set to square off with number three Alexander Rakic in the main event of the UFC Fight Night  on March 26th.

In October Blachowicz reign as world champion and five-fight win streak ended as he tapped to a Glover Teixeira rear naked choke at UFC 267.  While the title is gone we can’t forget that this one one of the greatest career resurgences we’ve seen in the UFC. From the verge of being cut during 1-4 stint to winning 9 of his last 11. Obviously I he pinnacle of his run was capturing the vacant UFC Light Heavyweight knocking out Dominick Reyes. Not mention stopping Israel Adesanya from becoming a tow-division champion in his lone successful title defense.

Rakic is long been considered one of the divisions most promising fighters since his promotional debut win over powerful Brazilian Francimar Barroso. The Austrian fighter has passed the test of beating other prospects knocking out Devin Clark and Jimi Manuwa. The 29-year-old stumbled is his initial bump up to the next level of competition losing a split decision to Volkan Oezdemir. In his last two fights Rakic has raised his game to another level beating former title challengers Anthony Smith & Thiago Santos by decision.
