
Warr in a Blink at BKFC Fight Night Temecula
If you blinked, you might have missed the BKFC Fight Night Temecula main event.
It lasted all of six seconds for Ruben Warr to score the third fastest knockout in BKFC history. A left hook overhand right combination as Robbie Peralta let his own right hand go. The Warr connection putting Peralta out before he hit the ground. Warr now has two brutal knockouts to his credit with one blemish against a fellow Lightweight elite. The roofer from Kentucky said he’s “here to change his life” and a win like this should have made major strides in that direction.
Fifty fight vet Fernando Gonzalez dictated when and how the exchanges took place with Rodney Thomas. The veteran found his groove doing major damage to Thomas’s right eye earning the decision and evening his record up. While Luis Iniguez put out a huge amount of volume the judges gave the split decision nod to Victor Rosas on the strength of his accuracy. Jordan Christensen survived a big right uppercut knockdown in the first round to rough up Riley Pellegrino in the clinch forcing a stoppage after the second round due to Pellegrino being unable to see.
Luis Villasenor showed accuracy in the pocket and big power earning his first win in the company knocking down Brett Fields three times in 71 seconds. Both men walked away with heavily damaged left eye, but it was the hard counter right-hand from Alexander Gutierrez that earned the decision over Zay Rodriguez. Squire Redfern dug deep getting off the canvas in the second to wear out Richard Brooks as the volume forced a fifth-round stoppage.
Fourth time is the charm for Van Vo who collected his first BKFC win knocking out the aggressive Daniel Pettit by a counter right hook inside the first minute. The Heavyweights made it to the third round before Joe White out slugged Chris Joseph Avila. White score a knockdown in the first. Avila battled his back in the fight with work in the clinch. White bounced up from taking a knee to crush Avila nose with a right hand for the finish. The card opened with a wild first round as Mike Hansen getting off the canvas to put away Anthony host with a right hand for the comeback victory.
