“The Gypsy” Outpoints “El Bandido” at BKFC Fight Night Kansas City
Jake Lindsey is still in the title picture after out lasting Elvin Brito.
The only fight inside Memorial Hall in Kansas City to need the judge’s assistance was the main event. Number two ranked Jake Lindsey and number four ranked Elvin Brito split the first two rounds. Lindsey found his success with his over hand right and right uppercut. Over the final three rounds the Lindsey pace and accuracy continued while Brito slowed down.
After the bout Lindsey told the sold-out Memorial Hall. “I just like fighting. Let me fight anybody. Let me fight Eddie Alvarez. I’ll fight anyone. I’m a real (expletive) fighter. I’ve been that way for 20 years. I’ve never said no to anybody, and I’m never going to.”
Zeb Vincent overcame being firmly down on the scorecards to get a fourth round TKO win over Doug Coltrane in the co-main event. The power on the Coltrane right hands nullified Vincent pressure. The right hand even sent Vincent to the mat in the second. Never deterred, Vincent kept coming and in the fourth round the almost closed left eye of Coltrane was deemed to be too damaged to continue by the ringside doctor.
Tyler Jones forced Ira Johnson’s back against the ropes. A high-volume attack suffocating Johnson’s counters. Jones got the TKO in the third round after two knockdowns in the second, the third timing touching the mat came in the third round seeing the ref stop the action with Johnson’s left eye a mess.
JW Kiser will ride off into the sunset with his hand raised stopping Mikey Furnier in the closing seconds of the second round. Kiser, who announced before the bout that it would be his last fight, overcame being knocked down by the very first right-hand Furnier threw, but also was deducted two points for pulling on Furnier’s hair. Kiser with a brawling forward wrestling style cut Furnier between his eye a straight right hand taking away his vision for the finish.
The fight started off well for Deron Carlis knocking down Eduardo Peralta with a right hand. Peralta took over in the second round draining Carlis with body work and a left hook upstairs got the finish.
Determined to get his first win in his fourth appearance in the circle Justyn Martinez had his moments Knocking down Blaine Warbritton with a windmill right hand and sending his mouthpiece into the crowd. Warbritton hung in tough slicing up Martinez with jabs and uppercut. The damage done to Martinez’s left eye forced a doctor stoppage after the fourth round for Warbritton’s second win in the company.
Charlene Geller had a smashingly impressive debut, as it looked like she may have caused multiple fractures in Karla Alvarez’s face. Alvarez had solid jab and strong right hand, but her defense was lacking as the Geller right hand landed hard and frequently. The fight was stopped after the fourth round, Alvarez having cuts around an almost fully closed left eye and swelling that suggests an orbital fracture.
Anthony Garrett took care of John Orr in sixteen seconds two right hands one over and the other upper got the job done. The jab starting from Matt Gymon’s hip and looping hooks shut the left eye of Jacob Akin for a third round TKO. And the card started with Devon Schwan stopping Jesse Pringle in the first round after two knockdowns from right hands.
