Judges Split, Ferea Narrowly Retains at BKFC65
The performance wasn’t memorable but the result was as desired.
Christine Ferea accomplished her main objective at BKFC 65 retaining the Women’s Flyweight Championship, but the path to get there was unexpected. Ferea & Masson-Wong both made their bones in BKFC trading bombs in the pocket.
This fight was far from that. What the Salt Lake audience got was clinch filled fight. The cleaner single shots where landed by Ferea but those moments where few and far between as Masson-Wong was determined to lock up with Ferea in an attempt to stifle the champions power. Masson-Wong will regret her lack of volume where the “Misfit” took every opportunity to land short punches.
All five rounds were close. The judges returning a split decision all scoring the fight four rounds to one, two judges to one for Ferea. The champion is now on a seven fight win streak with four title defenses.

In the third Stephens knocked the mouthpiece from Taylor’s mouth. In a moment of pause it appeared that the ref was going to stop the action to address the mouthpiece but he didn’t and Stephen put right hook on Taylor’s chin for the first knockdown. Remarkable that Taylor was able to continue.
A right uppercut put Taylor down in the fourth. With lacerations under both eyes and above the left eye Taylor took a knee in fifth making it the final bell. Stephens will happily be awaiting the BKFC Spain main event winner.
In the feature fight Drako Rodriguez ran his record to 2-0 stopping Trever Bradshaw in the second round with a life uppercut to the body.
The Mike Jones swept the scorecards out jabbing Diego Romo. One perfectly placed jab from Alex Davis shut the left eye of Hayden Brown in only twenty seconds.
