Stewart Dominates Rivera, King Kai’s BKFC Featherweight Title Regin Continues

Kai Stewart retains BKFC Featherweight Title in a one-sided fight with Jimmie Rivera.

In front of his home state fans in the main event of BKFC Montana, Kai Stewart successfully defended his championship for a third time. Stewart’s unorthodox style utilized many faints and false starts confusing title challenger Jimmie Rivera as to when the attack where coming. The king did have his chin tested early from an overhand right; the best punch Rivera landed. The constant deception put Rivera on his back foot. All the damage of Stewarts speedy flurries adding up to four cuts around Rivera’s right eye and one outside the left eye. Over the last three defenses Stewarts domination and the amount of damage he’s dishing out has continued to increase.

This is a performance that saw Stewart take his game to another level and deliver on what was promised. That’s the kinds of performance Stewart will need to continue to deliver as he pushes to propel the sport higher levels.

Julian Lane pulled off a major upset defeating former Boxing world champion Alfredo Angulo by unanimous decision in the co-main event. Lane utilized an active jab, punching with speed instead of power knowing the legend of Angulo’s iron chin. Angulo landed his share of heavy punches impartially working well to the body. But the 16-fight Bare Knuckle vet picked the perfect moments to strike in the clinch and straight clinch to stop Angulo from building momentum. The almost closed left eye of Angulo showing all the disappointment while Lane beaming with the smile of someone who may get in the title conversation.

A conversation, the Number one ranked Welterweight challenger Carlos Trinidad-Snake would also like to be part of. Trinidad-Snake displayed precision knocking down Zach Juusola three times in three rounds with left hooks. Trinidad-Snake allowed Juusola to come forward countered with left hooks turning Juusola’s right eye into a bloody mess. With the challengers stacking up for Austin Trout it will be interesting to see the direction BKFC goes. Especially when Trout has mentioned a desire to challenge for a second title.

Brandon Allen returned from a 16-month hiatus from action reminding everybody who he is. “Superman” knocked down Timmy Mason five times in under three rounds. After scoring a knockdown in the first Allan put his foot on the gas, putting Mason on the mat three times in the second round. A picture-perfect straight right in the third finally ending the fight in third. Allen has now won five in a row and put himself back in the conversation for a shot a Kai Stewarts crown.

Experienced amateur pugilist Bryant Acheson is charging towards the rankings after a third win in a row. Acheson showed his precision catching Scott Roberts rushing in on two occasions. The first knockdown came from a right uppercut and the second an overhand right Roberts couldn’t recover from.

Cory Willis heard the opening bell blitzing right at Brady Meister with a flurry of hooks. A big right to the body stopping Meister in just over a minute.

Dallas Davison put the end to a three-fight losing streak collecting his first win in over two years. Davison knocked Cristian Torres down twice in the first. The fight was stopped before the start of the second-round dude to Torres being cut on his left eyelid. Former title challenger Louie Lopez got his first win in almost two years ending a three-fight skid by out pointing Roberto Armas.

You can expect to see Natalie Gage in the rankings after a unanimous decision win over Gabrielle Roman, who came in at five in the women’s strawweight division. After getting caught with Roman’s slick counter in the first two rounds, Gage took the pressure to another level never letting Roman breath winning the final three rounds with powerful combinations.

Back in his natural weight class after a trip to the land of the giants. Leo Bercier was back where he was supposed to be. Bercier knocked down Drew Nolan three times in one round. The left hand with uppercut and hooks the weapon of choice. That also makes four wins in a row for Bercier as a Cruiserweight. The card opened with Elijah Jamerson making a successful BKFC stopping Aj Craig with a short right hand to the mouth.
