FightWorld 40 Results, Marte Pulls off Upset in Duke City
Where were you tonight in the Duke City? Well wherever you were, I’m sure there was no action that compared to Fight Night 40. The fans who packed Revel venue were not disappointed from the first fight of the night through the final pro fight of the night.
In the only pro fight of the night, a flyweight bout, Enrique Marte (2-4) quickly found his niche as he defeated Ozzy Chavez (3-3) early in round 1 with a choke hold.
Onto the main fight card, in the lightweight title John Merino improved to 4-0 after defeating Ezekiel Romero who dropped to 2-1 in a bout that went the distance in a split decision that was strongly contested by Romero’s corner and many in the crowd.
In the vacant bantamweight title fight, Izaac Sandoval (3-0) defeated Santiago Gonzales by a unanimous decision.
Amateur lightweight Sterling Woods (4-1) defeated Devin Gomez (3-0) in a a 2nd round knockout
In a high energy but bloody amateur heavyweight bout of the night, Jonathan Moliga (2-1) defeated Damion Altamirano (1-0) by submission, after 3 rounds due to a gash on Altamirano which bled out profusely
Unranked Hugo Chavez (0-0) defeated Gabe Bencomo (1-3) by a unanimous decision in a heavyweight bout.
Amateur flyweight Sergio Gutierrez (6-2) defeated Brad Tarpley (0-2), an amateur bantamweight by submission at 1:58 of round 2.
Amateur flyweight Aaron Baldonado (0-2) defeated unranked Juan Ytuarte (0-0) by a unanimous decision.
In a welterweight fight Austin Ford (1-1) defeated Ryan Rochford (0-1) by armbar submission at 2:55 of round 2.
