New Strawweight Champion to Be Crowned at UFC 321 in Dern vs. Jandiroba Rematch
Second Title Fight Added to UFC 321
The UFC Women’s Strawweight division will crown a new queen at UFC 321.
Shortly after Zhang Weili announced she had vacated the Strawweight title to pursue two-division glory at Flyweight, the UFC revealed that No. 1 contender Virna Jandiroba will face No. 5 ranked Mackenzie Dern for the now-vacant championship.
This fight is a rematch of their 2020 clash at UFC 256, where Dern earned a unanimous decision victory over Jandiroba. Since then, Jandiroba has surged, winning six of her last seven, including five straight. Dern, meanwhile, is riding a two-fight win streak with victories over Lupita Godinez and Amanda Ribas. Interestingly, both women’s most recent finishes came by armbar—against the same opponent, Amanda Ribas.
Also added to the UFC 321 lineup is a high-stakes Bantamweight matchup between No. 2 ranked Umar Nurmagomedov and surging No. 8 contender Mario Bautista. Nurmagomedov aims to bounce back after suffering the first loss of his career in a failed bid for the UFC Bantamweight title. Bautista, meanwhile, extended his win streak to eight at UFC 316, where he spoiled the debut of former Bellator champion Patchy Mix.
UFC 321 takes place on October 25th at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi.
