APFC Making Second Visit to ABQ in 2025
The APFC is returning to the Land of Enchantment to crown a new Lightweight champion.
A bout for the vacant APFC Lightweight title will headline APFC 21 on Sunday, November 23, at the Isleta Resort and Casino in Albuquerque.
Current APFC Welterweight champion Emmanuel Sanchez will drop down in weight to pursue two-division glory when he faces New Mexico’s top-ranked Lightweight, James Pleasant, according to Tapology.
Sanchez (24-11), a longtime member of Roufusport who now trains in Texas under Yves Edwards, is known as “The Matador.” The 35-year-old spent nine years competing in Bellator, where he challenged twice for the Featherweight title. Though best known for his striking, Sanchez has also proven dangerous on the ground, notching ten wins by submission — including a title-winning performance at APFC 17. His victory over Zach Zane marked his fourth win since parting ways with Bellator.
Pleasant (6-1) began his pro career with a third-round rear-naked choke victory. After suffering a narrow decision loss in his second fight, Pleasant rebounded with a five-fight win streak. Three of those wins came by stoppage, including a knockout of Noah Villemarette this past May.
