Holloway – Oliveria 2 Headlines UFC 326
At the start of the UFC Seasonal Press Conference, the promotion dropped a surprise announcement regarding the main event of UFC 326.
UFC 326 is scheduled for Saturday, March 7th, at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, Max “Blessed” Holloway will defend the BMF title against former undisputed lightweight champion Charles “Do Bronx” Oliveira in a long-awaited rematch.
Earlier in the week, the UFC Brazil account on X briefly posted that Holloway vs. Oliveira would headline UFC 324. The tweet was clearly incorrect and was taken down within minutes. The two first met in 2015, a fight Holloway won after it ended abruptly when Oliveira grabbed at his shoulder/neck area and was unable to continue.
That win was Holloway’s seventh in what became a remarkable 14-fight winning streak that included four championship victories. The Hawaiian standout is one of the most proficient boxers in UFC history, known for throwing lightning-fast combinations paired with elusive head movement. He claimed the BMF title with a dominant, masterful performance capped by a last-second knockout of Justin Gaethje. In July, Holloway defended the belt by earning his first win in a trilogy with Dustin Poirier, sending “The Diamond” into retirement.
Oliveira hit a slump after the initial Holloway bout, losing three of his next five fights. Everything changed in 2018, when “Do Bronx” rattled off three straight submission wins. That momentum grew into an 11-fight run during which Oliveira won and defended the lightweight title. A weight miss at UFC 274 cost him the belt, even though he defeated Justin Gaethje in Phoenix. He has since had two chances to reclaim the title, but both fell short. Still, three victories over top contenders have kept Oliveira firmly in the mix. For all he’s overcome, there are few men in the UFC tougher or more dangerous to challenge Max Holloway.
