Romero Out, Hunt now faces fellow champion at Knucklemania IV
Eleven days out from Knucklemania VI the co-main event has changed. The flue has knocked Yoel Romero out of facing BKFC world Light Heavyweight champion Lorenzo Hunt.
Yoel Romero released a statement, “Unfortunately I have to withdraw from my scheduled fight against Lorenzo Hunt at KnuckleMania VI due to a very strong strain of the flu. During my weight cut for RAF I felt my immune system was low and I was feeling very weak. A few days after my January 10th RAF match I started to experience severe flu symptoms. I am extremely disappointed but I’ve been unable to train and I need to make my health a priority. I look forward to returning to action to face Lorenzo Hunt at a later date.”
The new co-main event will see Lorenzo “The Juggernaut” Hunt against pound for pound number one ranked, David “The Redneck” Mundell, the BKFC Middleweight world champion.
“It’s unfortunate that Yoel Romero has taken ill and is unable to compete at KnuckleMania VI,” said David Feldman, Founder and President of BKFC. “However, Lorenzo Hunt versus David Mundell is an iconic clash between two of the very best bare-knuckle fighters in the world and two of the most accomplished in our company. Pop Fans should expect an explosive battle with fireworks from the opening bell.”
Hunt returned to BKFC after a year and half away regaining the BKFC Light Heavyweight title by comeback last second knockout of Josh Dyer. This past June Mundell posted his 4th defense of the BKFC Middleweight title defeating Donald Sanchez in a one sided fight.
One man is trying to remind the world why he’s one of BKFC’s most feared finishers.
The other is trying to prove he’s not just a middleweight king, but a warrior who belongs with the best — anywhere on the card.
This isn’t just another scrap — this is two of the most dangerous bare-knuckle fighters on the planet stepping into the ring at a 199-pound catchweight for BKFC KnuckleMania VI
