Amateur Card Highlights
Irving Anchondo vs. Beau Velasquez
In the final amateur bout, Beau Velasquez moved up a weight class and engaged in a competitive striking battle early. The first round was closely contested, but things escalated in the second when Irving Anchondo dropped Velasquez with a glancing left hook.
Velasquez showed toughness, surviving the round despite visible damage under his right eye. He responded by attacking Anchondo’s lead leg, while Anchondo’s size advantage helped him push the pace and back Velasquez up.
In a dramatic final sequence, Anchondo secured a late takedown, but Velasquez reversed and finished strong with ground-and-pound. The bout ultimately went to a split decision, with Anchondo edging out a razor-close victory.
Devin Gomez vs. Killean Carter
This bout opened with a tactical approach, as both fighters traded low kicks cautiously. Gomez secured an early takedown but struggled to maintain control.
Carter began to take over with powerful striking, including a head-turning high kick and punishing low kicks that left Gomez’s leg visibly damaged. Despite the adversity, Gomez showed heart, eating hard shots and battling through swelling and bruising.
A late takedown allowed Gomez to finish the fight strong from top position, making it a competitive and gritty contest and strong decision win for Carter.
Daemons Jaloma vs. Alfredo Alvara
Alfredo Alvara started fast, trapping Jaloma against the cage and landing clean punches before securing an early takedown. The second round saw extended clinch exchanges, with Alvara finding success through combinations and well-placed kicks.
Jaloma rallied in the third, securing a takedown and controlling the action on the ground to close the fight on a strong note.
Cameron Paige vs. Chauncey Cecil
This fight delivered pure chaos. Cameron Paige scored an early knockdown with a right hook, but Chauncey Cecil responded with resilience, landing a crushing body shot that visibly hurt Paige.
As the fight progressed, Cecil’s striking precision and movement took over. A stabbing side kick scored another knockdown, and by the third round, Cecil was in full control—adding two more knockdowns, including a fight-ending spinning back kick to the body.
Despite the loss, Paige earned respect beyond the cage. A member of the Armed Forces, he is set to be deployed overseas. His willingness to compete under such circumstances speaks volumes about his character, making him a winner regardless of the result.
Allister MacDonald vs. Ruben Luna
This one ended almost as quickly as it began. After a brief exchange, Ruben Luna jumped on a ninja choke attempt. While MacDonald escaped, Luna immediately transitioned to the back and locked in a rear-naked choke, forcing the tap just 29 seconds into the first round.
Damian Rodriguez vs. Bradley Tarpley
Durango’s Bradley Tarpley used his size advantage effectively, taking Damian Rodriguez to the mat early and advancing to mount. Although Rodriguez worked his way back to his feet, Tarpley controlled the clinch and delivered punishing knees, earning a first-round TKO victory.
Thomas Haynie vs. Kristian Otero-Talent
Kristian Otero-Talent came out sharp, landing a clean right hand followed by a sweeping left hook that bloodied Haynie’s nose early.
While Otero-Talent found success on the feet, Haynie showed determination, turning the tide in the third round by pressing forward and forcing wrestling exchanges. In a last-ditch effort, Haynie jumped for a guillotine to the crowd’s excitement, but Otero-Talent remained composed, escaped, and secured a hard-fought unanimous decision.
