UFC Unveils Blockbuster Summer Plans with TUF Return, Broadcast Deals, and Historic Freedom 250 Celebration
LAS VEGAS — The UFC is gearing up for a massive summer in 2026, rolling out a slate of major announcements that span the return of a fan-favorite series, key broadcast talent extensions, community recognition, and a historic event tied to one of the most ambitious cards in company history.
The promotion confirmed that The Ultimate Fighter will return for a new season, headlined by a coaching clash between Hall of Famers Daniel Cormier and Michael Bisping. Titled The Ultimate Fighter: Team Cormier vs. Team Bisping, the show premieres June 14 on Paramount+, coinciding with the highly anticipated UFC Freedom 250 event. The 12-episode season will feature 16 rising prospects across the men’s bantamweight and women’s strawweight divisions, all competing for a coveted UFC contract.
The series continues to serve as one of the UFC’s most important talent pipelines, having helped launch the careers of champions and stars like Kamaru Usman, Tony Ferguson, Rose Namajunas, and Rashad Evans. Both coaches bring deep experience to the role—Cormier, a rare simultaneous two-division champion, returns for his third stint, while Bisping, a former TUF winner, looks to once again showcase the grit and fight IQ that defined his career.
In another major development, UFC and Paramount announced a long-term extension with veteran analyst Laura Sanko. A trailblazer in MMA broadcasting, Sanko made history as the first female color commentator in the modern UFC era and continues to play a key role across fight coverage, including desk analysis, cage-side commentary, and fighter interviews. Her renewed deal ensures she will remain a central voice on UFC broadcasts as the promotion continues expanding its reach on Paramount+.
The organization also highlighted its commitment to community impact by naming Alex Pereira as the 2026 recipient of the Forrest Griffin Community Award. Personally selected by UFC President Dana White, the honor recognizes Pereira’s charitable efforts in Brazil through his Instituto Poatan, which provides educational resources, computer training, and jiu-jitsu instruction to local youth. As part of the award, a $25,000 donation will be made to his foundation, and Pereira will be honored during the UFC Hall of Fame ceremony at T-Mobile Arena during International Fight Week.
Looking ahead to June, UFC Freedom 250 is shaping up to be a landmark event. Set to take place in Washington, D.C., the promotion will host a two-day Fan Fest at The Ellipse, featuring live entertainment, athlete appearances, and interactive experiences. Headlining the festivities is Zac Brown Band, bringing their chart-topping catalog and high-energy performance to fans as part of the celebration.
With a mix of competition, entertainment, and community initiatives, the UFC’s latest announcements underscore a continued push to grow the sport globally while delivering unique experiences for fans. From the return of The Ultimate Fighter to the spectacle of Freedom 250, the summer of 2026 is set to be one of the most ambitious stretches in UFC history.
