PFL Heads to New York With Usman Nurmagomedov Title Defense, Dakota Ditcheva Return Set for July 31

PFL is bringing a major championship doubleheader to New York this summer as undefeated lightweight champion Usman Nurmagomedov returns to defend his title against unbeaten contender Archie Colgan in the main event of PFL New York on July 31.

The event will take place at UBS Arena and marks the promotion’s first event at the venue. The card will air live on ESPN in the United States beginning at 7 p.m. ET, with preliminary bouts streaming on the ESPN App.

Nurmagomedov enters the matchup with a spotless 21-0 professional record with one no contest and continues to build his reputation as one of the most dominant lightweights in mixed martial arts. Carrying the famous Nurmagomedov name, the reigning champion has combined elite grappling, composure, and striking improvements into a run that has left every challenger behind him.

Standing across from him will be Colgan, a former collegiate wrestler who has quickly emerged as one of the division’s most intriguing undefeated prospects. At 13-0, Colgan has developed a reputation for controlling fights from start to finish with relentless pressure and disciplined wrestling. The matchup presents one of the biggest tests of Nurmagomedov’s championship reign and could determine the future face of the PFL lightweight division.

The co-main event will feature the return of undefeated flyweight Dakota Ditcheva against former Bellator Kickboxing world champion Denise Kielholtz.

Ditcheva has not competed since battling through a broken hand in a victory over Sumiko Inaba last July. While preparing for a previously scheduled meeting with Kielholtz earlier this year, Ditcheva suffered another setback after breaking her opposite hand. Now recovered, the British star returns looking to reestablish herself as one of the promotion’s biggest attractions and continue her rise toward a world title opportunity.

Kielholtz brings a dangerous striking pedigree into the matchup. The Dutch veteran built her reputation in kickboxing before transitioning to MMA, where her explosive offense and judo background have made her a threat in multiple phases of the fight game. With experience against elite competition, Kielholtz now has the opportunity to halt Ditcheva’s momentum and shake up the flyweight rankings.

The July 31 card is expected to feature additional bouts in the coming weeks, but the championship headliner and flyweight showcase already give the event one of the strongest lineups on the PFL calendar this year.
