History was made Saturday night in Newcastle, England, as Bradley Taylor became the first-ever BKFC UK Bantamweight Champion with a unanimous decision victory over Lewis “The Leprechaun” Garside in the main event of BKFC Fight Night Newcastle. The championship bout headlined a sold-out Walker Activity Dome.
Taylor established control early, scoring the fight’s lone knockdown in the opening round. That momentum carried him through five rounds, earning scorecards of 49-45, 49-45, and 50-44. The Hartlepool native improves to a perfect 5-0 under the BKFC banner, while Garside suffers the first defeat of his bare-knuckle career, falling to 3-1.
The co-main event showcased another standout performance from a hometown favorite. Newcastle’s Lewis “The Machine” Keen secured his place as the next challenger for the BKFC UK Lightweight Championship by stopping Stew “Tank” Martin in the fourth round.
Keen scored two knockdowns before the referee halted the contest at 1:27 of Round 4. The victory improves Keen’s record to 6-1 and positions him for a title clash with reigning BKFC UK Lightweight Champion Jonny Graham. Martin drops to 1-1 with the defeat.
