BKFC Sturgis: Cruiserweight Division Has an Undeniable No. 1 Contender
A night full of knockouts saw eight of the nine fights on the card end without the need for the scorecards, including the main event.
The night’s headliner came to a dramatic conclusion as Bryant Acheson nailed Mike Jones with an overhand right that spun Jones like a top before sending him face-first to the canvas in the final seconds of the first round.
With rumors swirling that Alessio Sakara has vacated the Cruiserweight division and interim champion Esteban Rodriguez is taking a fight at Ironweight, the fate of the 205-pound division is up in the air. However, Acheson has a strong case for a title shot after improving to 5-0 in the sport.
While not carrying the same stakes, Alonso Martinez laid out ranked contender Zeb Vincent with an overhand right of his own.
Clay Collard broke free from Daniel Keepers’ clinch and landed a thunderous straight right to score a third-round TKO, as the big-show veteran made a successful BKFC debut.
Traevon Kroger improved to 3-0 in BKFC after a first-round TKO victory over KB Debeau-Staby. A straight left hand scored an early knockdown, and Kroger continued to showcase sharp, accurate punching and elusive movement. The damage to Debeau-Staby’s left eye became severe enough to force a physician’s stoppage before the second round could begin.
The night had a meeting fireworks as Jayson Simon knocked down Jayson Sampson three times on his way to a crushing right hook knockout in 0:43
