UFC 334 Championship DoubleHeader announced for Madison Square Garden
The UFC is set to return to Madison Square Garden on November 14 with a championship-heavy card headlined by the first heavyweight title defense of Ciryl Gane.
Gane enters the main event as the newly crowned UFC heavyweight champion after Tom Aspinall vacated the championship. Standing across from him will be unbeaten heavyweight Josh Hokit, who gets his opportunity to capture UFC gold in his first title fight. The fight is polarizing as both fighters are incredible athletes but have rubbed members of the fan base in the wrong way. Gane is a high level kick boxer with a great stick and move game but has been heavily criticized for consistently committing in fight fouls. Hokit a former San Francisco 49er has a high volume press based style mixing his wrestling and boxing but has rubbed many the wrong way for his often offensive jokes and viewpoints.
The long-awaited women’s bantamweight championship showdown serves as the co-main event as former training partners Kayla Harrison and Amanda Nunes finally meet inside the Octagon.
The middleweight division will also take center stage as No. 5-ranked Caio Borralho welcomes surging kickboxer Yousri Belgaroui to the UFC spotlight.
At welterweight, Urso Medic faces the ever-popular Kevin Holland, while flyweight prospect Bilal Hasan takes on heavy-handed Luis Gueule in the main-card opener.
The prelims feature a farewell fight for former UFC title challenger Stephen “Wonderboy” Thompson, who faces Charlie Radtke in what is expected to be Thompson’s final UFC appearance.
The veteran Jim Miller returns against explosive lightweight Terrance McKinney, while two highly discussed middleweight prospects collide when Donte Johnson meets Baisangur Susurkaev.
UFC 334 goes down November 14 at Madison Square Garden in New York City, with the heavyweight championship fight between Ciryl Gane and Josh Hokit topping the bill.
