Carmont Meets Philippou at UFC 165
Newly added to the UFC 165 fight card is a Middleweight bout that will see Francis “Limitless” Carmont (21-7) face Constantinos Philippou (12-2).
In his UFC debut Francis Carmont impressed many with well rounded game in route to earning a decision win over Chris Camozzi. “Limitless” would then in consecutive bouts submit Magnus Cedenblad and Karlos Vemola. Carmont has since looked less then impressive in scoring a decision win over Tom Lawler; and also in a very controversial decision win over Lorenz Larkin. In all Carmont is riding a 10 fight winning streak.
Greek boxer turned New York trained MMA fighter Constantinos Philippou bounced back from an on short notice promotional debut loss to Nick Catone, to earn a decision win against Jorge Rivera. Philippou would get his 1st stoppage win in the octagon in his next outing knocking out Jared Hamman. Philippou would than continue his roll, with decision victories over Court Mcgee and Riki Fukuda. Most recently Philippou scored a 3rd round TKO win over Tim Boetsch at UFC 155. Philippou has since been scheduled to take on Ronaldo Souza but was forced to withdraw from that bout due to injury.
UFC 165 takes place on September 21 at the Air Canada Centre in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Topping the UFC 165 card is a championship double dip with Alexander Gustafsson challenging Jon Jones for the UFC Light Heavyweight title and Eddie Wineland challenges Renan Barao for the UFC interim Bantamweight title.
