We are live at the McKernan Event Center for Battle at Sunset, which is the 1st event being held at this newly renovated sports complex .
Tonight’s 5 bout card is topped off by local favorite Josh “Pitbull” Torres squaring off with Jose Marrufo for the vacant WBC USNBC Welterweight title.
James Martinez (1-1, 1KO) vs. Dorian Dixon (0-0)
Canceled due to Dixon not having the proper blood work in on time.
Jose Osorio (0-1) Duke City Brawlers vs. Gene Perez (1-1) Perez Fighting Systems
RD 1- Perez did a good job in the first of applying pressure and keeping Osorio against the ropes an on the defensive.
RD 2- Osorio Was able to change thing up and become the agressor putting Perez against the ropes. The more the right hand of Perez’s dropped the more Osorio’s left started to land.
RD 3- Perez stings Osorio with a left hook then puts Osorio on the ropes.Perez backs off an Osorio opens up with a combination. Perez tunrs Osorio back around before wiffing on a big uppercut. Osorio jumps back on the offsenive till th end of the round Perez did land the bigger shots in the round.
RD 4- The damage from Osario’s straight punches is starting to show on Perez’s face. Perz is swinging with hard hooks Osorio answrs back ripping to the body
Result- Jose Osorio by (39-37,39-37,39-37) Unanimous Decision
Alex Holguin (1-1) vs. Macelo Cloud (0-1)
RD 1- Holguin right home has found a home. Holguin scroedone knock down doubling up on the left Twice more combination left Cloud stumbling to the ropes.
RD 2-Holguin kept up the pressure kept Boxing. Cloud starting to bleed fromunder his right eye and out his nose. Holguin with a left hook drops and stops cloud.
Result- Alex Holguin by KO 2:15, RD 2
Co main Event- Arturo “El Toro” Crespin(11-3-1, 4KOs) vs. Augustine Renteria (10-25-6)
RD 1- An even start to the round but as time wore on it was Crespin who cut off the Ring and stuck Renteria against the ropes eating hooks
RD 2- Th fight took a turn towards the clinch game an durty boxing . With quick hands Crespin put together a huge combination while Renteria is stuck on the ropes. Renteria who has his belt line ridicuosly high is complaining of low blows. Crespin is peppering away at his opponent looking to methodicly break him dome.
RD 3- Crespin right away forces Renteria aganst the ropes and is now ripping away at the body with deep hooks. With his head down and continually moving forward “Toro” Is living up to his nicname bulling Renteria around the Squared circle.
RD 4- The busier fighter leding the dance more is still Crepin who lokks to have pulled the power back again to conserve energy.
RD 5- A Tired Reteria is watchung Crespin pick him apart pop and move clinch throw get separted and repeat. Renteria did land a few good hooks that If nothing remnded Crspin he is in a fight. Rentaria is being warned heavaliy for holding.
RD 6- Rentaria did a lot to stay away from Crespin who again Came forward hard land big ripping blows to the body.
Result- Arturo Crespin by (60-54, 60-54, 58-56) Unanimous Decision
Main Event- Josh “Pitbull” Torres(13-3-1, 6KO) vs. Jose Marrufo (4-2-1) for WBC USNBC Welterweight Title
RD 1- Marrufo comes out ultra agressive swinging for thr knockout .As the round weras on Torrs is landing an the agression of Maruffo is wayning. A collision of heds happens riht before the bell.
In his coner Marrufo looks hurt from the incidental head but.
RD 2- Torres doubles up on the jab and ducks undera Marrufo attack. The crowd is roaring with “”Pitbull, Pitbull” chants.Marrufo lands a vicous left hook Torres anwsers with a right to the body and left to the head. Then an all out brawl breaks out torres scoring with everything and Marrufo sneaking in big hooks.
RD 3-There’s no bquite in Marrufo who keeps coming forward winging big punches. Marrufo connects with a big hook to the liver backs Torres up. In the corner Marrufo is firing alot but Torres is catching alot off his elbows. Torres end the round peppering the head.
RD 4- Marrufo lands a heavy left hook moves in for the kill but Torres cicles out and fires back. Marrufo gets Torres against the ropes they are restarted and Torres then pressure and put Marrufo gainst the ropes. Marrufo getS off the ropes and explodes forward with heavy power shots. Torres covers up and then when the flurry is over . Torres lands with short quick punches. Marrufo hits Torres with another hook on the jaw and is going for the kill again. Torres compoes and blocks a few before the round ends.
RD 5- Marrufo is putting the pressure on keeping Torres gliding and defending along the ropes. Torres comes back to life. andputs Marrufo against the ropes. A right from Torres stund Marrufo aginst the ropes. Torres land 3 in a row, then Marrufo starts swinging back ending the round with a wild exchange.
RD 6- Torres establishes himself throughout this hole round landing avioding and leading the dance.
RD 7- Marrufo get in Torres face unloads with a 7 punch combination but nothing lands clean. Marrufo winds up so hard, when he misses he flops to the ground. Torres with the deeper gas tank is using his foot work to keep Marrufo guessing.
RD 8- Swingin big an wild Marrufo hits air with his first several Punches. Torres keeping calim is landing with qiucj straight shots. Marrufo goes back to putting on the pressure. On An inside exchange Marrufo conects on two in a row but is unable to fololow up. They end the bout in a wild exchange. we go to the judges.
