Both the red & blue corners for the co-main event of Chaos in Clovis 2, in a late twist will be fighting out of Force of 1 Martial Arts.
Oscar Espinoza has withdrew from his scheduled meeting with Rico Urquizo. Stepping up on less then a weeks notice to face Urquizo, will be his sparring partner Omar Acosta.
Both men have done battle in the ring and cage. Urquizo is more the boxer (2-4-2) only having fought once in the cage (0-1). Acosta is the opposite (2-6 MMA) & (1-1 Boxing).
Urquizo was last in the ring in mid February of 2017, fighting Jordan Gregory to a split draw. A week later on short notice Urquizo on short notice had his mma debut at JacksonWink Fight Night 1. The bout didn’t go his way getting overwhelmed on the ground by touch grappler Nate Flanders. The last time Urquizo fought at home in Clovis in at Chaos in Clovis 1, back in May of 2016 defeating Andre Garlaza by unanimous decision.
Chaos in Clovis 1 also saw Acosta make step into the ring for the first time, going 4 rounds with, now teammate Elijio Sena. This past July, at Throw down in Alien Town, Acosta had his 2nd boxing match, scoring his first win with a TKO of Israel Huerta. In the cage Acosta has fought from Middleweight up to Heavyweight with his wins coming by submission, while displaying a Diaz brothers kind of striking.
School of Hard Knocks Promotions presents Chaos in Clovis 2, a fight 5 bout Boxing card, May 12th at the Curry County Event Center.
After seeing the announcement of the contest I contacted Force of One head coach Eric Suan to see how this will work. Suan said “They spar all the time and always help each other during camps. There is no bad blood. I’ll just train both equally, wrap their hands and let them put on show for the fans”.
