Jason Sanchez will be the first New Mexico Boxer Back in action

First reported by ESPN, Jason Sanchez will be in the co-main event of the Top Rank card on June 23rd in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Albuquerque’s Sanchez (15-2) will square off with Christopher Diaz (25-2) from Puerto Rico. The two fighters share a common opponent both coming off wins over Aeilson Dos Santos. Sanchez knocked out Dos Santos in October, while Diaz won a decision in January. This announcement scraps the plans of Legacy Boxing Promotions to have “El Alacrancito” headline their next card. Which has been rumored to be rescheduled for June 27th. The Covid-19 pandemic cancelled their original date of March 28th, where Sanchez was to face Aleem Jumakhonov (8-2).

The Top Rank card will be headlined by unbeaten Australian, Andrew Moloney (21-0) against Joshua Franco (16-2-1). Moloney beat Elton Dharry to win an interim WBA title in November, while Franco stopped Jose Alehandro Burgos in January. The card will take place at the MGM Conference Center with no audience, but will be televised on ESPN.
