Quartet of additions to the UFC’s trip to Sacramento, including Mcmann vs. Montano
Inaugural Women’s Flyweight champion Nicco Montano will make her long-awaited return to the Octagon, but at Bantamweight.
The former world champion will be welcomed to 135 lbs. by former Olympian & title challenger Sara McMann (11-5). At the TUF 26 Finale, Montano (4-2) become the first ever UFC Women’s Flyweight Champion by decision victory, over last-minute replacement, Roxanne Modafferi. Modafferi replaced Sijara Eubanks, suffered some complications with her health during weight cut. Issues with her health and the near fatal weigh-cut, this past September have kept Montano out of competition. McMann last fought in February of 2018, being submitted Marion Reneau: taking time off to have her second child.
In the women’s Strawweight division, number 11 ranked contender Cynthia Calvillo (8-1) faces former Invicta champion Livia Renata Souza (13-1). Calvillo is on a two-fight win streak, coming off a decision win over Cortney Casey. Souza is on a four-fight win streak, most recently scoring a split decision win over Sarah Frota.
At Featherweight, hard-nosed grinder Darren “The Damage” Elkins (24-7) is set to tangle with TUF 22 winner Ryan “The Wizard” Hall (7-1); a submission specialist. Lastly, at Bantamweight Martin “The Spartan” Day (9-3) meets fellow striker Benito “The Golden Boy” Lopez (9-1).
