Battle for vacant Welterweight titles tops LFA 71
In mid-July Legacy Fighting Alliance will venture into Georgia for the first-time planning to crown new welterweight champion.
Derrick Krantz left the LFA Welterweight title vacant would he took a short notice opportunity with the UFC. July 12th at the Coca-Cola Roxy in Atlanta Jason Jackson (9-3) & Junior Marques (9-1) will battle for the 170 lbs. belt.
Jackson is known by most fans for being part of TUF 21, the ATT vs Blackzilians season where he went 1-1. A 3-fight win streak saw Jackson earn a shot on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contender Series. Jackson would suffer an ankle injury, losing to Kyle Stewart. Fast forward 2-years and Jackson has scored a TKO of Jordon Larson at Bellator 204 & submitted Scott Futrell at LFA 64.
Marques makes his promotional debut with the experience of having won titles in both MMA & Muay Thai. The 25-year-old member of the Imperio Fight Team has an 89% finishing rate and is considered the top Welterweight prospect in Brazil. “Juninho” will head into the bout off wins over Jeferson Rafael & Bruno Guimaraes.
