Invicta FC announced Atomweight Phoenix Tournament for June 11
The next challenger to Invicta FC atomweight champion Alesha “Half Pint” Zappitella will be decided in one of MMA’s toughest tournaments.
This will be the fourth installment of the Phoenix Tournaments and will be the first time featuring the atomweights. Three fights in one night, both the quarterfinals & semifinals are both one five-minute round fights, while the finals return to your traditional three five-minute rounds.
The field of participants includes Jessica Delboni (10-3), who fought Zappitella to a split decision at Invicta FC 44. Other Invicta veterans competing include Lindsey “Damsel” VanZandt (7-4), Jillian “Lionheart” DeCoursey (4-3), Linda “F109” Mihalec (2-1), & “Queen of the North” Katie Saull (3-4). Rounding out the group is a trio of fighters touching the Inivcta canvas for the first time Paulina “Firefox” Granados (4-4), Tabatha “Batgirl” Watkins (3-3) &, Katie “Maquina Asesina” Perez (2-1); all have the chance to leave a memorable first impression.
A random draw prior to the event will give decide the quarterfinal pairings. Finishes will be a priority as each will earn the athlete a bonus. The fighter with the fastest finish in the quarterfinals get the advantage of picking their semifinal opponent. If there are no finishes in the quarterfinals, the semifinals will be done by random draw.
The event will take place in Kansas City, Kansas and broadcasted on AXS TV nationally, globally on the Invicta FC Youtube channel.
