Tavares Out, Backstrom Meets Miinimaki at UFC Fight Night Berlin
Thiago Tavares (18-5-1) has been pulled from UFC Fight Night Berlin and is being replaced by Niklas Backstrom (7-0) in a Featherweight meeting with Tom “Stoneface” Niinimaki (21-5-1).
Niinimaki won his 12th in a row when he got the split decision nod at the TUF 18 finale against Rani Yahya.
Backstrom who is hails from Sweden, has won 5 in a row, since a 2011 no contest, including 3 straight TKO’s.
UFC Fight Night Berlin on May 31 at the O2 World in Germany is headlined by Mark Munoz vs. Gegard Mousasi. This event will be broadcasted on the UFC Fight Pass and is live in the united States in the AM hours. The night of May 31 the TUF 3 Brazil finale takes place on Fox Sports 1.
