Bellator 99 Headlined by Shlemenko vs. Marshall, plus Warren vs. Kirk

Bellator Middleweight champion Alexander “Storm” Shlemenko (47-7) will make his fist defense to open the promotions 9th season, against season 8 tournament winner Doug “Rhino” Marshall (18-6). A Bantamweight tournament quarterfinal has also been added to the September 9 card, with former Featherweight champion Joe Warren (8-3) meeting Nick Kirk (10-2).

Since failing to capture the Middleweight title from Hector Lombard at Bellator 33 “Storm” has won 10 fights in a row. Shlemenko claimed possession of the vacant Middleweight title at Bellator 88, with a 2nd round Knockout of Maiquel Falcao.

Doug Marshall has won 4 fights in a row including defeating Andreas Spang (TKO), Sultan Aliev (SD), and Brett Cooper (KO); to win the season 8 Middleweight tournament. “The Rhino” a former WEC Light Heavyweight champion has 12 of 16 stoppage wins by KO/TKO.

Joe Warren at Bellator 80 defeated Owen Evinger by unanimous decision ending a 2 fight losing streak. Both losses came by brutal KO, to Alexis Vila and Pat Curran.

Nick Kirk, who fights out of The Academy in Minnesota, is 3-2 in his last 5 fights. Both losses have come in Kirk’s 2 Bellator appearances. Kirk is coming off of scoring his 3rd career win by submission, forcing Ben Miller to submit to a 2nd round triangle choke at Impact Fighting Championships- Revolution.
