2 Injuries Changes to UFC 163
The UFC debut of Jui Jitsu ace Robert Drysdale (6-0) will be delayed to due a staph infection. Instead Francimar “Bodao” Barroso (15-3) will meet Ednaldo Oliveira (13-1-1) in a Light Heavyweight battle at UFC 163 on August 3.
The injury bug has also bitten Phil Harris (22-10), who will be replaced by Jose Maria “No Chance” Tome (33-3) against John “Hands of Stone” Lineker (21-6) in a Flyweight scrap.
Barroso, a member of Nova Uniao has won 3 fights in a row and 12 of his last 13. “Bodao” has 14 wins by stoppage with 8 KO/TKO’s and 6 submissions.
Ednaldo Oliveira trains at Champion Twam alongside of former UFC Heavyweight champion Junior Dos Santos. At UFC 142 Oliveira made his promotional debut losing by 1st round submission to Gabriel Gonzaga in a Heavyweight battle. The loss ended a 3 fight winning streak. Oliveira has 8 of 10 stoppage wins by KO/TKO.
Tome, has won 12 fights in a row since a no contest with Francisco Sinai. “No Chance” has not tasted defeat since a 2008 submission loss. Tome who is a member of the Renovacao Fight Team is 16-0-0, 1nc in his last 17 fights. Tome in 33 win has 28 stoppages with 15 KO/TKO’s and 13 submissions.
Lineker, entered the UFC on a 13 fight win streak, to loss in his promotional debut to Louis Gaudinot by submission. “Hands of Stone” has since bounced back with wins over Yashuhiro Urushitani (UD) and Azamat Gashimov (TKO)
UFC 163 takes place on August 3 at the HSBC Arena in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil; and is headlined by Chan Sung Jung “The Korean Zombie” challenging Jose Aldo for the UFC Featherweight title.
