Alves out, Pyle in vs. Brown at UFC on Fox Sports 1 1

MMA: UFC 160-Pyle vs Story
Mike Pyle

The first fight that was announced for UFC on Fox Sports 1 1 was Thiago “Pibull” Alves (19-9) vs. Matt “The Immortal” Brown (17-11), but the UFC has now announced that Alves has been pulled out of the fight and will be replaced by Mike “Quicksand” Pyle (25-8-1).

Thiago Alves has not been in action since a 3rd round submission loss to Martin Kampmann at UFC on FX 2 in March of 2012. Alves has since pulling out of a UFC 149 bout, been sidelined heeling nagging injuries.

Matt Brown has won 6 of 7 fights, including 5 consecutive wins over Chris Cope (TKO), Stephen Thompson (UD), Luis Ramos (TKO), Mike Swick (KO), and Jordan Mein (TKO).

Mike Pyle has won 7 of his last 8 fights. The lone blemish in that stretch came by decision loss to Rory MacDonald. Since the loss Pyle has won 4 fights in a row, having defeated Ricardo Funch (TKO), Josh Neer (KO), James Head (TKO), and Rick Story (SD).

UFC on Fox Sports 1 1 takes place on August 17, at the TD Bank Garden in Boston Massachetts; and is headlined by former Pride and UFC champion Mauricio “Shogun” Rua taking on the biggest trash talker in MMA Chael Sonnen.
