Lawler vs. MacDonald in the Works for 167
After there UFC on Fox 8 performances, there was and out-cry from the public to put together Robbie Lawler (21-9) vs. Rory Macdonald (15-1). The UFC has listened and is working to have the bout at 167- St.Pierre vs. Hendricks on November 16th, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
Both men are coming off victories, but in very different ways, making this bout all the more intriguing.
Lawler since returning to Welterweight and the UFC has devastatingly knocked out Josh Koscheck and Bobby Volker.
MacDonald on the other hand has won consecutive decisions looking ultra impressive in defeating BJ Penn. But in his most recent outing vs. Jake Ellenberger, in what was billed as a number 1 contenders fight, MacDonald lacked aggression and played it safe in a jab filled lackluster performance; that has caught a lot grief from UFC president Dana White. MacDonald has also recently said that he does want to be a champion but doesn’t want to have to face teammate and current UFC Welterweight champion Gorges St. Pierre.
Most likely as was MacDonald’s last fight this one too will be labeled as a number 1 contenders match but only time will tell if that is really the case.
