MMA Vet Aaron Riley Hangs Up The Gloves
Following a UFC on Fox 8, split decision loss to Justin Salas; which was the 45th of his career Aaron Riley(30-14-1) announced that he was retiring from the sport he been competing in for the past 16 years.
The fight with Salas was the first time Riley had been back in the cage since a September 201 loss to Tony Ferguson, in which Riley Jaw was broken for the 2nd time.
Riley a member of the Jackson/Winkeljohn’s gym first fight was back in July of 1997. Riley went 11-3-1 before the calendar hit the year 2000. Aaron Riley fought for the UFC for the first time at UFC 37, losing a unanimous decision to Robbie Lawler. In 9 UFC bouts Riley was 3-6.
Riley was a strong hard nose wrestler with a nice submission game. Riley holds notable wins over Michihiro Omigawa, Jorge Gurgel, and Shane Nelson. Riley did also go to battle with such names as Spencer Fisher, Yves Edwards, Chris Lytle, Eddie Alzarez, and Ross Pearson. Riley ends his career with 19 of 30 win by stoppage and 14 of those 19 came by submission.
