UFC Fight for the Troops 3 adds 4 fights
The card for UFC Fight for the Troops 3 is filling up rapidly. Four new fights have been added to the event with at bantamweight TUF finalist Dennis “The Menace” Bermudez (11-3) takes on the relentless Nik “The Carny” Lentz (24-5-2) and in a Lightweight collision TUF 15 winner Michael “The Maverick” Chiesa (9-1) meets TUF 16 winner Colton Smith (3-2). Pair of Middleweight contests have also been added to the November 6 event with Chris Camozzi (19-6) against Lorenz Larkin (13-1) and Ronny Markes (14-1) squares off with Yoel Romero (5-1).
Dennis Bermudez has won 4 fights in a row since losing to Diego Brandao in the TUF 14 finale. Most recently “The Menace” was on the victorious side of a split decision with Max Holloway.
After consecutive losses at Lightweight Nik Lentz dropped to Featherweight and has so far defeated Eiji Mitsuoka (TKO), Diego Nunes (UD), and Hacran Dias (UD).
After being submitted by Jorge Masvidal and tasting defeat for the first time as a pro, Michale Chiesa will be looking to regain the form that saw him submit Al Iaquinta and Anton Kuivanen in his first 2 UFC contests.
Colton Smith grinded out Mike Ricci to win the season 16 of The Ultimate Fighter, now smith is looking to bounce back from a UFC 160 TKO to Rober Whittaker.
Prior to being submitted by Ronaldo Souza, at UFC on FX 8, Chris Camozzi had won 4 straight fights over Dustin Jacoby, Nick Catone, Luiz Cane, and Nick Ring.
Lorenz Larkin comes into this fight looking to rebound after his 1st career loss, having dropped a unanimous decision to Francis Carmont, in his promotion debut at UFC on Fox 7. A bout prior in his Middleweight debut Larkin defeated Robbie Lawler by unanimous decision.
Ronny Markes comes into this fight having won 7 consecutive bouts including being 3-0 in the UFC, with wins over Aaron Simpson, Andrew Criag, and Karlos Vemola. Markes had been scheduled to face Derek Brunson at UFC on Fuel TV 10, but the bout was canceled at the last moment when Markes was involved in a car accident while on the way to the weigh-ins.
Romero is coming off of a 92 second flying knee knockout win over Clifford Starks. Romero was next scheduled to face Derek Brunson at 164, but due to injury Brunson was forced to withdraw from the bout. Replacing Brunson was Brian Houston, but Houston was unable to get medically clear. Romero will now have to wait an extra to 2 months to get back in the octagon.
UFC Fight for the Troops 3 takes place on November 6, at Fort Campbell in Kentucky. The main event will see former Army sniper Tim Kennedy vs. Former UFC Light Heavyweight champion Lyoto Machida.
