Condit vs. Brown & Danzig vs. Lauzon added to UFC on Fox 9
The match-up announcements for UFC on Fox 9 keep rolling out and we have two more confirmed bout. In a top ten Welterweight battle former interim UFC Welterweight champion “The Natural Born Killer” Carlos Condit (29-7) will face streaking Matt “The Immortal” Brown (18-11) and in a Lightweight showdown the bonus machine himself Joe “J-Lau” Lauzon (22-9) clashes with TUF season 6 winner Mac Dazig (21-11-1).
After a 5 fight win streak and becoming the interim UFC Welterweight champion, Condit’s winning streak would be halted by a decision loss, to returning from injury UFC champion Georges St. Pierre. The losing continued as Condit drop another decision to now Welterweight number 1 contender Johnny Hendricks. The Killer came back out of Condit as he stopped Martin Kampmann by strikes in the 4th round of the UFC Fight Night 27 main event bout.
Entering 2012 Matt Brown had lost4 of 5 fights, but since a UFC 139 loss in November of 2011 “The Immortal” has won 6 consecutive bouts. In that span Brown has defeated Chris Cope (TKO), Stephen Thompson (UD), Luis Ramos (TKO), Mike Swick (KO), Jordan Mein (TKO), and Mike Pyle (KO); most recently at UFC Fight Night 26.
Lauzon will be looking to get back in the win column coming off back to back decision losses to Jim Miller and Michael Johnson. Lauzon last had his hand raised at UFC on Fox 4 when he submitted Jamie Varner in the 3rd round of a crazy Fight of the Night award winning bout.
Danzig has also lost 2 fights in a row to Takanori Gomi (SD) and Melvin Guillard (KO). Danzig’s last win came at UFC 145 by unanimous decision over Efrain Escudero.
