Injuries Cancel Jason vs. Stephens at UFC Fight Night 29
UFC officials have announced that a scheduled Featherweight scrap between TUF Brazil 1 winner Rony Jason (13-3) and 9 year vet Jeremy “Lil Heathen” Stephens (21-9); has been scrapped as both fighters are injured.
Jason was looking to make this 4 in a row in the octagon having defeated Godofredo Castro (UD), Sam Sicilia (TKO), and Mike Wilkinson (SUB).
The “Lil Heathen” was hoping for his 2nd win at Feather’ after his debut in the weight class saw Stephens earna decisin victory over Estevan Payan that ended a 3 fight losing streak; which took place at Lightweight.
The Jason vs. Stephens bout was slated to be on the UFC Fight Night 29 main card, and filling that vacant spot will be Mike Pierce (17-5) welcoming Rousimar Palhares (14-5) to the Welterweight division.
UFC Fight Night 29 takes place in Brazil on October 9, and is headlined by Demian Maia vs. Jake Shields.
