Mir vs. Overeem & Cerrone vs. Dunham added to UFC 167
The UFC’s 20th anniversary card is rapidly coming together. Last night it was announced that former 32-time Heavyweight champion Frank Mir (16-8) will collide with former Strikeforce Heavyweight champion Alistair Overeem (36-13). Today it has been announced that Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone (20-6) will meet Evan Dunham (14-4) in a Lightweight showdown.
Mir will be looking to end a 3 fight skid having lost to Junior dos Santos (TKO), Daniel Cormier (UD), and most recently suffering TKO loss to Josh Barnett, that many people have said was an early stoppage. Overeem will be looking to end a 2 fight losing skid, having suffered back to back knockout losses to Travis Browne and Antonio “Bigfoot” Silva.
Both Cerrone and Dunham will be looking to bounce back from decision losses to Rafael dos Anjos. Interestingly enough both men are also 1-2 in their last 3 fights. Dunham’s lone in that span came by decision over Gleison Tibau at UFC 165, while Cerrone’s last win came by decision over KJ Noons at UFC 160.
UFC 167 takes place on November 16, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The main event will see Johnny Hendricks challenging Georges St. Pierre for the UFC Welterweight title.
